STR®System = Sorption Tailings Roasting System

is a self-developed and patented plant system of Engineering Dobersek for the optimization of gold extraction process, considering environment protection aspects. Based on the oxidizing roasting method, in particular, unused tailings utilized and total gold recovery is significantly increased.

FLUIDIZED BED FURNACE

Central of the STR System plant design with extensive periphery is a circulating fluidized bed furnace for oxidizing roasting of the CIL ("Carbon in Leach“) tailings.

Benefits of circulating fluidized bed furnace:

  • High energy density: High specific capacity (per 1 m3 furnace volume)
  • Excellent heat and mass transfer between gas and solid phase due to high relative velocity
  • Uniform temperature distribution in furnace

In addition of  the fluidized bed furnace a STR®System plant exists of the following segments and facilities: 

  • Dewatering unit
  • Intermediate storage
  • Drying and granulation
  • Off gas dedusting, cleaning and desulfurization
  • Cooling system
  • Process and instrument air
  • Electrical equipment, instrumentation and controls, automated control system
